To make the wall and ground i started out with two plains and rotated one of them up right to so that two edges join. Then press M to gut up the materials library. Then diffuse - bitmap and the find the image for the texture then select it. Then assign material to selection then show map on view port.
To add a wood texture with a shine. press M diffuse, map and diffuse colour - none. Then change the specular levels and glossiness levels up. Then assign material to selection then show map on view port.

grunge texture
For this texture i started by using my own picture of a brick wall and added a picture of a dirty wall then reduced the opacity and changed the layer to overlay. To add more dirt to the wall i copied the dirt layer a few times and skaterd them around the brick wall.

street research (alleyway)
These are some of my reference pictures that i am going to use for my 3D street.
The look I am going for is a really dirty grungy alley way. The textures I am looking to make is dirt covered brick, cobbles and wet concrete.

street edit
The task the we had was to get use to editing buildings for the textures. The first thing i did was to get rid of all of the signs, i did this by using the polygonal lasso and tracing the signs. once i had done that press shift and backspace and the object selected goes, the background is filled in during the process. After that the next part was to get rid of the window, this was done by using the spot healing brush. To use it hold Alt on the background that you want click and then go over the part that you want to fill in. The last part was to get a door to replace to window. This was done by the polygonal lasso again and then blended in with the spot healing tool.
